When I ran at the drag strip I shift my auto by hand I do this because when it is drive it won't whine out the gears so when it shifts it drops out of the powerband ,so I usually shift at 5000 rpms but I was just looking at the dyno graph for the L98 and thouht maybe I was shifting to high, at what points of the powerband should I shift.
Being that I have a manual, it may not matter. But my power curve to shift is 4500rpm. Before the headers and intake - shift point was 4200 to 4300.
Let the trans do its job. If properly setup, it controls the shifts far better than manually shifting it. Problems can occur if the TV cable is not adjusted correctly.
You may be shifting a little high; since you have a "dyno" available try some passes at different shift points, say 4,800, 5,000 and 5,200rpm. Compare trap speeds and go with the best results.
With my mods before the siamese base Drag2000 dragstrip simulator told me to shift at 5,000-5,200rpm; after the siamese base that raised to 5,400rpm.
Thanks everyone for your info. I start trying different shift points at the track. Also one more quick question is there any way to change the shift points of the transmission
