Do you think I can run that to about 7000? I think that is a good deal.. I would be able to keep my valve Springs? What about pushrod length.. I hope I don't have to do anything there..
Where do you find the recommended valve Springs for that cam? All the other hydraulic roller cams are around 130 seat pressure and 340 open. In that case mine would be too much right?

As long as you stay with 1.5 rockers your springs will be fine. You actually want the kind of pressure yours have to get some more RPM out of it.
In your 383, I'd think peak power at 6500 and pull to 7000.
You'll need pushrods (will be shorter) because the retro roller lifters are so much taller. Good 5/16 .080 wall from Manley or Howards should be about $125.

Great. I think I'm going to go that route. Comp is having me send the cam back to them. Hopefully they will take care of it. I think they want me to get another cam from them though..
Do you happen to know what the base circle is on that cam? The one I had was a small base circle I think it was .960 not sure I measured it right tho...

I do not but they will grind it on small BS if you need it for rod clearance.
Ok.. Comp says to send it to them and they are going to take care of it and get me a hydraulic roller at a discount price and credit on the bad cam.. I need to find out what they have with the same specs as the Howards or if they need to custom grind one..
I can have comp custom grind that cam for me on a small base circle. They told me my spring pressure was too much unless I run a short travel roller lifter.. What's your opinion? I can find a set of standard sbc roller lifters for $160 but if I go with short travel I think I'm around $350..do I need to use those or not?

The spring pressure is fine. You can run short travel if you want but I never have.
Also you need retro fit lifters.... make sure they know that. I have never seen retro lifters sold for $160 even on a great deal.

Also comp recommended part number 12-444-8 hydraulic roller and idk if that would be as good as the Howards for my set up.. What's your opinion? My Springs I got from competition products part # 99893e. And if I use these lifters http://m.ebay.com/itm/200928215757
Would that be a good set up or would it be better to do a custom grind of the Howards? Either way it's gonna be a custom grind for small base circle.
99893e is a Crane spring built by Hi-Tec. It's a great spring. Ran a bunch of them in the past.
As far as the lifters. I don't know anything about the eBay ones and very little about Comps. But IMO the Comps are probably as good if not better than the Howards.

Ok. I just measured the valve Springs and they are stacking up at about 1.2.... My installed height is 1.750 I think that's my problem. My lift was 558 and it was coil binding.. It lists the coil bind at 1.080 I don't get it. Unless it was boxed wrong? I may just go with comp and match all the parts this time.
