Hell of a night. Started about 9 pm as I had dinner with the in-laws.
Anyway, pulled the fuel lines and injectors and noticed the gas felt strange. As in, gas usually has a strange feel and this time I got a lot on my hands and it didn't evaporate quickly. Usually you can feel the air coming into contact with your hands after the gas evaporates, but this didn't.
I checked the fuel pressure and it was at 35. The pressure is getting progressively worse, which leads me to thinking fuel pump. So the injectors seemed to hold but the pressure began to drop. I primed the system twice more and gas shot out of the regulator at around 45 psi but the pressure went back into the 36 range instantly.
So, I figured I would go ahead and check the ohms. I forgot my new tester at work! Ugh!!!!!
So to the back I went and decided to pull the fuel pump. Inside I find what is a new looking pump but the sock on the end is full of crud. When I say the tank was gross I mean really bad. The gas was a strange yellow color and was in two distinct levels. By that I mean the top was clearer than the bottom. I had nothing to get the gas out but good ole fashioned red neck ideas. Since I haven't been working out my arms have shrunk and I could get about half of my forearm in the tank. So a water bottle with the top cut off was used to fish the last few gallons out. Lol in the gas was all sorts of dirt, grime, slime, and very cloudy yellow muck. After getting all I could out with that I used a few small towels to clean the bottom of the tank and get 99% of the left over debris out.
I took the pump off and yup, its new, although the sock on the end is dirty as hell. The pump is an Airtex E3270 from Autozone. Price is like $71.99. Are they a decent pump? I am afraid to throw it back in due to it sucking up crappy gas and just sitting in it for so long. I am going to replace it with an AC Delco tomorrow night along with a new sock for that too.
I said "I should change the oil since I have nothing better to do." And it took a wrench with another wrench in it for leverage to get the dang bolt out of the pan. My goodness, the Hulk must have out that on. Kicker was the filter was barely on.
The oil was the BLACKEST and thinnest I have ever seen. Not only that but when draining it from the catch can to a jug it was so thin that it reminded me of how milk sort of sticks to the side of the glass if you drink it fast and some is left. Yeah, that nasty Not only that but I took a good 5.5 quarts out of that engine so there was a large amount of gas in it.
All is good. Right? Wrong! I go to pull the oil fill cap and the freaking top of it comes off and the threaded section is left in the valve cover. Should turn out....right? Nope. That thing was so effing tight it took a damn adjustable wrench on the outside with solid pressure for 10 seconds to break it loose. No, I am not a wimpy guy, its someone has really messed with this car.
So yeah, no progress at all other than I about killed the battery so I have that on the charger.
Tomorrow night I will put the pump in with some fresh gas and see where the fuel pressure lands.
The car has not been driven in dang near two years, it is safe to say it is 2 year old gas so yeah, I bet the pump has had it.
Thoughts?

I would get a new filter and replace it the right way. And flush the lines use a doulble does of lucas or seafoam in the gas then run it if it starts and dies still ohm your injectors if you find a bad one leave it unhooked and try. If you can't get the injectors working get bosch 3 from John at injection connection. You will be driveing soon. Wish I would have seen that the gas was so old.
The new fuel filter doesn't have 10 attempts to start. Going to swap the pump and sock/screen that goes with it.
I will flush the lines out and have some fresh gas in it tonight with some Lucas fuel system cleaner. I use it quite regularly in my truck and my girls car.

Ok I would turn the key on a few times and release it out the schrader to help flush.
So, let me get this straight - the guy from whom you bought it, who spent $3k trying to get it to run in the shop, went to a shop where they didn't even check the gas or oil being okay, and just threw $3k worth of parts and labor on it?
New fuel pump is in. Primes to 40 psi and holds at 36 and then it drops and drops fast. In 10 minutes its down to zero. I plugged of the FPR and it still dropped. I pinched the fuel return line and pressure shot up to 60+psi and held but still dropped slowly.
I flushed about a gallon of fuel thru the system and out the shrader valve. It was still so dark yellow that I couldn't see the bottom of the white cup I was using.
How much gas could be in the system??? I completely drained the tank and added about 3.5 gallons of fresh gas.
I pulled the injectors. They all read 14.7 to 14.8 ohms. Issue is, I can see orange debrit inside the top of the injectors. I am.betting one or more of them is stuck open.
The car tries and tries to start and sometimes does but soon dies. The engine sounds strong at idle and smooth but like I said it dies. When cranking I have 45-ish psi of fuel pressure so I think we are good with the pump.
What should I do next? Should I even bother to clean them myself?
Is it running a bit longer each time? Did you dose it up good with lucas? I would change the filter again try it the easy way this time. But would run some more gas through it first. Is the pressure dropping when it dies? If so have you tryed jumping the oil pressue switch yet?

It ran a bit longer and now will actually fire a few times in its own. The oil pressure when it starts is up to 60 psi and is at about 35-40 as its trying to start. I put a few ounces of Lucas in it to assist with cleaning everything out. I am going to make myself a home made fuel injector cleanung system and see if it helps.
Also, still has the C12 code so that's good. Lol I will tinker a little more today.

Great sounds like it's freeing up I would just tap the injectors and keep starting let the lucas do it's work. I would not start pulling things apart just yet. Look at all your vacumme lines and clean fuses. Tap the egr too.
