Default What goes Clunk Clunk???

LOL I need a list of what can clunk/thud around the rear suspension, stocking bushings all but poly shocks.

I got on it once and it hooked up decent and I am 100% positive I had a loud clunk thud from behind me. Now I got on it several times after and nada, but I don't think it hooked up that good after the clunks.

I have new spicers u-joints all 6, one new wheel bearing & c-beam plates. There is no noise or vibration.

1st thing I'll check is the bump stops. I'm gonna crawl under it tomorrow cause I gotta check when I bottomed out later and make sure it wasn't either pan. MI roads exhaust always scrapes and mine is as high as it can go under the rearend. Should of never took that road, it already turned my round tube into a D shape on my C3. Sill the C3 exhaust is lower.

Rear differentials can clunk when they are going bad.

Two loud thud clunks?

It sounded like something moved or I ran something over and I know not the 2nd it was a brand new, clean, clear road.

edit: Last night while in bed I thought maybe it was the compartment lids? After the noise I stopped at the car wash, the hood wouldn't pop. I had to use the e-releases, then later at home it popped just fine.

Also I'll add engine mounts to my check list, it's forward but still worth checking.

I'm good at the guessing game. What goes "clunk clhnk"?....hrm

I got it! A clunker!

Tranny mount allowing movement? My friends firebird did that.

No trans mount on a c4 and I have c-beam plates.

I know people replace the bat-wing bushing with poly, but do they clunk?

When I had a clunking noise in rear, it was because the sway bar end links were toast.

Well couldn't find anything or see any witness marks of anything and it hasn't done it again.

I managed to get my rear sway bar on upside down and it hit the frame -- clunk.

I agree with rear sway bar link bushings that's what was making noise on mine. Very loud clunk rear over bumps. It's a wierd design but they are very cheap. Need to be pressed into the sway bar link.

Did you run over Rosie O'Donnell? No wait, you didn't total the car. Never mind.
