I've had a problem that started up off and on a week or two ago. After the car is hot (I drive about an hour to work), the car hesitates when lugging up a hill. It is an auto and typically happens when doing about 42-45 or so over railway bridge hills (this is Florida, the only hills around here). It also happened to me when I was on a flat roadway doing about 25 in traffic. When I step on it, the car lags a second or so, then takes off - no more shuddering. I heard a few times the nasty old "marbles in your engine" sound.
The hesitation is almost like shuttering and can be quite strong. I've checked the transmission fluid and it is clean, and am on my second bottle of fuel injector cleaner. The car is running hot. This time of year, temps are in the 90's and the car hits 230 in traffic however it has also happened when temps are around 200 on the gauge.
The car has about 83k on it now and the plugs and wires are at least 2 years old (all AC Delco). I don't want to get sold a bill of goods. I run Super in it from Mobil. I appreciate your help! :seeya
Sounds a little like it's not getting fuel
Just a couple of checks for ya:
Any codes being thrown by ECM/PCM
fuel filter - has it been changed recently
Is fuel pressure OK/fuel pressure regulator
filter sock on fuel pump could be sludged up
Age/mileage on Optispark
Have you researched the injector cleaner issue, I think the manual says not to use it, or to only use certain types.
