Default Custom Cold Ram Ait Intake.

Ok after looking through this forum and the Internet I have made my version of a cold air intake. Absolutely no hot air entering the intake. Along with a Throttle Body Bypass because everything was off and I was right there at it.
I do have more pictures but I can only load 6?
I will be using the Air going into the Condenser/Radiator Shroud from under the front bumper.
Buy a K&N filter Number. 33-2128. (Not a Vette filter.)
Remove whole Air filter box.
Cut a hole 13 3/4x 6 3/4inch on the top front of the Radiator shroud.
Be very careful in your cutting because the air filter will sit in this hole very snugly. Be careful. ( Look at picture.)
On the Lower air box cut another hole 13 3/4x 6 3/4inch. Place the lower piece of the air box over the shroud to make sure everthing is aligned properly. Take your time. The upper lip of the filter will fit snugly into the bottom of the air box. Screw in/mount the lower piece to check alignment.
Install 1/2inch door weather stripping around the upper hole area that the upper lid sits on. Make sure there's no air gaps.
For the upper lid with the square hole in the middle use your left over plastic that you just cut out for the filler piece. Make a templet, then put that piece on the inside area of the lid. Silicone in place.
Now cut off the Plastic deflecter that sits on the lid. Be very carefull and cut off the Rivets on top. If you cut to much you will have to reweld those holes.
It's a 5-8 hour job depending on your skills. Take your time and make sure everything aligns correctly.
I look forward to any comments good or bad.

Waiting to see how fast it gets dirty or damaged. When I pulled mine out for cleaning there was dirt where you put your filter.

Maybe use a foam filter in front of it?

Back in the 90s TPIS sold a kit that ended up very similar to what you have. It was also very expensive.

I sold one years ago that was truly fresh air. 3cone filters in a box with a snorkel that went down and under the car.

That is how I cut mine a while back. I bought a used shroud and cut it while it was outside the car. I have the slp 3 filter cai. All 3 filters hang over the cut out. Made a significant difference in trap speed just from a little cut.

Thanks everyone for all the comments and your wisdom/experience. I figure that i can wash out the filter when it gets dirty and take an Air hose and blow out any debris that gets in the area under the front of the car/area. I will closely monitor the area.
I'm looking at different ways to make some kind of Grill/screen to cover the area from damage and not loose any air flow. Thanks for your comments.

Yes they did and the early 2000's and I have one on my car.........it came with a fiberglass filter housing which has a larger or wider air intake cavity as well and did away with the EOM, thinner, plastic, filter housing; works very similar to what we see here.....

good work ! Care has to be taken on that procedure so as to not disturb the fan wiring......

Great pics everyone. Thanks.
mxnuke, do you have anymore shots of that big air filter box on the bottom photo?
Pologreen1, Great pictures shot with different angles. Do you have a shot of the intake into the Throttle body? It looks big? What year was that for? Was the Radiator shroud at an angle? Thanks.

'90 vette+ is slanted radiator The stock tube attached to it. No bigger than stock, just one solid piece that came out the bottom of the car. Rare piece for sure.
