I had that setup on my 94' LT1. Sounds good, don't expect much change over the factory. It is a tad throatier and a bit deeper. Still no drone just like the stock system.

Power difference? Negligible.

I seen people using different sizes. What size openings would be needed for the stock pipes on a 95 ? 2.5 " or 3"

Go with a Flowmonster 3" X-pipe. Fit the tunnel perfectly. The stock pipe size is 2.75".

Not the best pic of my old system but will give you an idea:

What year car do you have. This isn't exactly what you asked for but this is my 96 auto coupe with an x-pipe and no mufflers. Just the pipes ending through exhaust tips. I first just had my mufflers removed but the droning inside would give you a headache after 5 minutes and forget about having a conversation. After adding the x-pipe, what a difference that made. Sounds great outside and I'm able to have a quiet conversation inside. The resonator is kind of like a muffler. Inside the resonator is a tube with holes that makes the exhaust gases bounce around inside and then exits the resonator. The gases bouncing around in the resonator causes a lot of drone without mufflers. The x-pipe smooth's the gases out which allows the gases to exit quicker.

This the x-pipe I'm using.

This is how my car now sounds. I know you want to keep the mufflers but just wanted to give you an alternative. Good luck!

Well I went with the Melrose ceramic coated long tube headers to hi-flow cats to X-pipe, to dual magnaflows, and I absolutely love the sound.

I had factory before that, and then I went to factory with muffler deletes and it was just a little too much, but the long tube headers with X-pipe is exactly what I was looking for!

Good luck!

Any problems with drone? I have the Melrose headers waiting to put on. MagnaFlow complete system with the resonator. Been debating about getting the Melrose X.

I'm guessing the high flowcats will muffle it a like the resonator.

I have the x pipe and stock mufflers on a 95 it is great. Gives the car a nice deep throat sound. Purchased and installed for under 100. I have the Lawson from Amazon.

Here is the link I posted on the forum with pictures and a video in the threads. Enjoy you will like it

Previous owner of my car (MSR) went through extensive engineering to properly place an x-pipe in my car. It has cats after the x-pipe, and mufflers at the very back. It's pretty loud, and it hits the x-pipe rasp very obviously in the second half of the rev range. I'm not really a loud-car kind of guy, but damn it sounds awesome!

It did improve the power compared to true duals. But the key to getting an increase with an x-pipe is to have no expansion chamber components ahead of it. That means no mufflers, resonators, or cats. Nothing. Everything after the first expansion chamber point is just a matter of reducing restriction - there is no resonant tuning to be had downstream of that first chamber.

Yes, terrible drone from 65-80 mph. Magnaflow drones like crazy. I am still debating what to do to fix this. I would like to keep the Melrose Long Tubes, Hi flow cats, and X-Pipe, but what muffler should I put on the back to eliminate the drone?
