FWIW i dont do burnouts to warm up my drag radials anymore. I was told by others at the strip using drag radials they dont need it. U can check the difference in your 60' times but didnt make any difference on my car. Wish i had known that when i first began to use them. Would have saved a lot of rubber.
Sorry i dont understand 1/8 mile times as i only race 1/4 mile (and in my camaro). But i have a traction problem even running MT DR @ 18psi and cant get my 60' times under 2.1sec. So i need to get it to hook and that means a better torque arm and change my weight balance if possible. I dont run drag shocks and my camaro sits pointing down in the front - making it light in the rear on launch. Plan to fix those items to stop some wheel spin. Dang tires spin even if i baby the throttle on launch. p.
You have some serious setup and equipment issues if you can't get better than a 2.1 60' out of an mt. People have gone 1.2 on those!

I do not agree with this, you don't need a huge smoky burnout but a short burnout to clean the junk off the tires works best for me. I have seen 1.4 60 ft times with an all stock rear suspension at Mt 275 drag radials.

I think when u get to a high pwr level the corvette axles tend to move the tires outward at the top (pos camber) and lose some traction as the rear end tries to "stand up". So the cure sometimes is a straight axle.
IMHO u may have something to gain in a tune but u need to hook to use it. Still will be a fast car, just will spin like on ice from a stop.
There must be a problem with your car. My 1988 firebird running all stock suspension other then drag radials has run 1.58 60 ft times with a 6 speed. Car is not stock but suspension is.

On my last time out to the track for test and tune, the track was poorly prepped and my best 60ft was 1.7xx. I went back out to the track a couple of weeks ago for test and tune. This time I did my TNT in between classes of the bracket racing program. Track prep was great! I made one change in tire pressure and made 4 passes. My best pass of the day was: (I'm car 85)
1.638.... 60ft
4.946....330ft
7.220....594ft
7.731....1/8mile ET
88.04.....1/8mile MPH
I think I can maybe pick up 3 or 4 tenths with some improvements in the tune as it was still running rich. My AFR gauge was reading in the 11's range.
