Code 43 and 45 1993 LT-1
Hi,
I posted this in the 'Scan and Tune' section. Not many (none) answers there, so I'll try here also.
----
About 3 months ago, the SES started coming on. The SES now comes on every once in a while and has Codes 43 and 45 stored.
43 - ESC Circuit - knock sensor issue?
45 - Left O2 Sensor Rich - misfiring plug?
I had a 'performance' chip in it when the codes first appeared. So, I changed the chip back to the stock one and the SES went out. It came on (and off) again during a long trip I took this past weekend.
With the SES on, the car runs ok - no missing that I could feel - but gas mileage shows a few mpg lower, so there may actually be a miss. Is there a 'Misfire" code in the 93 OBD-I computer?
Looking for info about these codes and cures before I start throwing parts at it.
The car is a 93 auto with 130k on it. Runs great except for the pesky SES on the display. I've had it for about 2 1/2 yrs and don't know if O2 sensors or plugs have ever been replaced by the previous owner. That's where I was going to start.
Thanks for any help or info.

Hey Walt, OBD1 doesn't throw a DTC/CEL for a misfire. I would hook it up to a real time scanner. I see you are Arlington. I have a real time scanner. It can tell us if your o2's need replacing. If you don't have a real time scanner, I can scan the car for you.

I would NOT buy and install anything until '1993C4LT1' comes by with a scanner and can see what is happening.
ASSUMING what needs to be replaced...versus...KNOWING what to replace are two totally different things.....and I am only writing this is because I have lost count on the number of customers who buy and install parts that had nothing to do with that was causing the code to appear. Just trying to save you some time and money.....but as always.,..do as you wish.
