So what looked to be a fairly easy job while I have the panel off has turned into a problem..
The outer wipes that are available at all the vendors have the same connectors... not the same as on mine.. I have looked around most all places and they all look the same and the vendors I called said hmmm..
So the next job looks like finding the old style connectors and putting them on the new wipe..I hope that I dont have to take the connectors off the old one..sheesh..
The originals used that type of pinch clip. GM stopped using them a few years later. SO....what is no the new seals is correct to current design clips...and YES...it does make it a BEOTCH to get installed if your do not do what is needed to get the new clips to start in the holes correctly before seating the molding downwards.
Honestly...finding and installing the old style clips....you can do it if you want to do that....but for me there would be no way that I would spend the time to install the clips. I would have the new design molding in way before I got all of the pinch clips installed and caged.

Craig,
Are you serious about replacing these clips in the new molding with the old design???
AS I wrote...."but for me there would be no way that I would spend the time to install the clips. I would have the new design molding in way before I got all of the pinch clips installed and caged."
And if the owner of a Corvette just HAD TO HAVE these clips in for some type of judging event....then they would be paying dearly for those few points they did not loose.
Some type of die to hold the clip and then press the molding onto it and allow the pins or tabs of the clip to go through the molding so they can be caged.

No I am not gonna use the old stuff at all...
You said... ".and YES...it does make it a BEOTCH to get installed if your do not do what is needed to get the new clips to start in the holes correctly before seating the molding downwards""
I was asking if there is some sorta method to get the new clips into the holes...

OH.....SORRY for the misunderstanding....truthfully...do a search and see if you can find it on the web somewhere.
For me to type out my method in installing these new style clip molding...would be exhausting.
I will write this. You need to set the molding up to the slotted holes in the door and make sure the clips will all start in these slotted holes. I have come across a few where the clips were not correctly staked into the molding and I have to elongate the slotted hole so the clip would fit.
If you can not find something...PM me and I will give you my shop phone number and you can call me and I can talk you through it....MUCH FASTER than typing my fingers to a bone.

No worries... I have the door apart for weather strips and regulator so with the window out I should be able to see what I'm doing..
Been an interesting job so far..also took the instrument cluster out to get rebuilt..
