Trying to remove lower shock bolts on 1996, but they keep spinning...
Hey guys,
So I thought it was going to have a very easy remove and replace of my front shocks, however as usual something goes wrong.
I got the top nuts loosened and started loosening the lower bolts going through the plate, but as I was doing so I noticed they were just spinning and not actually going anywhere. I moved my jack underneath one and put some pressure on the bottom of the bolt, but it didn't seem to do anything.
Does anyone have any idea how to get these out? Is there a nut inside I need to be holding or something?

I believe the bolts you speak of are not threaded thru the control arm, you should be able to slide them out after removing the nut. If they don't move try using a drift pin and gently taping them out with a hammer.

"jts90" has you pretty well covered I'd think.
Put the nut back on the bolts to protect threads and give it a tap or two with a punch. That should move the head to where you can get a lever under the head to ease the removal or then remove nut again and drive it the rest of the way out.

If I understand this correctly, there is a recessed nut underneath which you need to get in there with a socket. Get under and look up. You have to hold the nut then turn the bolt on top. Then the bolt should just lift out from the top.

Might be a better angle to understand the bolt
