Default U-Joint repair

I have a squeaky u joint in my 85 Corvette and I figure instead of replacing just one, I would swap them all out, half shafts and drive shaft included. The question that I have is are they all the same size? all six?
Online I see two sizes, but they have a vague description saying something like "Rear Driveshaft At Rear Axle" of just "rear drive shaft". Are the first the half shafts and the second the actual drive shaft?

The measurements are the following. What is the difference between the u joints that are .001 in length longer? Which do they go for?

Bearing Cap Diameter (In): 1.063 X 1.063 Inch
Length (In): 3.217 X 3.217 Inch

Bearing Cap Diameter (In): 1.063 X 1.063 Inch
Length (In): 3.218 X 3.218 Inch

Your post might mix-up the OP. OP there are teflon coated washers behind the rear wheel hub bearing assembly on each side. Antfarmer is suggesting that the washers may be causing the noise. If your u-joints are bad; change them out. If the noise persists after that, it could be the washers.

Here's a link to Denny's Driveshafts page for u-joints for driveshafts and axles. If you are still unsure, give them a call.

OP - for a C4 you need to know nothing except the 2 joints (transmission to differential) are 1310 and the 4 joints (differential to rear wheel) are 1350. Most C4's have aluminum shafts/yoke so they're spec'd to coated for aluminum joints. They're seldom used any longer only because of price, the debate goes on and on. There are of course joints with fittings and there are those less fittings. Local I believe is the best purchase strategy.

I replaced the axel u-joints and Teflon washers in my 86 last year. I used Moog coated U-joints from RockAuto and they've worked well.

Just about everyone on the forum refers to them as Teflon washers. In reality they are steel washers that are Teflon coated. They are located between the rear wheel hub/bearing assemblies and the suspension knuckle on each side. Often there is a clicking noise that can be cured by replacing the washer. If your problem is not the u-joints, then that could very well be the noise/problem.

If you're going to do u-joints, might as well change the Teflon washers right away, you'll have it apart and easy to get to then so why take it apart twice. They're cheap too, around $5-$7 each IIRC.

Just be sure to put them in the right way, there's a lip on them that have to be assembled correctly.

Can you get them locally or best bought off line?
