Default temp control switch

Hi Folks, i am in the process of checking and replacing all my sensor switchs if the need to be replaced,, i found the engine temp sensor, which i found out it is called engine temp switch which is a single wire coming out of the switch, the wire coming out of it is exposed copper wire and looks like somebody tapped it up at one time, i can get the sensor or as they call it ,,, switch that is for the temp analog gauge on the dash,, does anybody know where can get the plug and wire loom that plugs onto the temp switch coming out of the block between 6 and 8 spark plugs. thanks.

You haven't mentioned the year so that might be considered the first requirement. You might mention the color of the wire and then it's function could be confirmed. When you buy a replacement switch/sender/sensor you'll need to match the connector to the switch/sender/sensor that you buy. There are options.

*** I've seen you reference maybe a '96 so if you wanted to shop locally I'd maybe use a Wells TU152 for the sender and a Wells 838 connector as a reference at whichever parts house you might choose. You could use a GM 25037332 for a reference also for the sender. Don't be confused that there's two pins in the sender but only a single wire mating. I believe that by '96 all had this combination. The smaller pin I believe is for the device and the larger is just for indexing. Earlier LT cars had mixed in that location. You could change the sender style also if you wanted and use the appropriate mating connector.

Thank you zr1 that was a great help i will look into that, and yes it is a 96 lt1..It is tapped up so i will untape it and find out what color the wire is ......

went and checked the color of the wire and it is green. now i am curious if i change the sender and the connection harness say like the front senser are the sensor reading going to be the same and will it reflect like wise to the analog temp gauge on the dash....

You need to use a sender intended for GAUGE - replace with what's there presently. Some earlier had a male single male spade on the sender but I believe that all of the later production should have what I mentioned in post #2. GREEN is correct wire. Remember that analog is only an "approximation" of coolant temp. You could maybe compare the analog to the digital for it's accuracy. Don't expect similar.
