Default Keyless entry 1986 corvette

Hello, I have recently bought 1986 Corvette convertible in US and the car is now on the way to me to Europe. Once it comes, I will do some service and also I would like to add keyless entry there.

Is there any possibility to put there the original one from 1993? and if yes where can I buy it? I like the look of original fob. http://corvettestory.com/images/corv...system-2_a.jpg

Or is it better to put something like this? http://www.batee.com/corvette/keylessentry/

I don't need to connect it with horn but I would like to see flash of lights when it is locked/unlocked.

Looking forward for your advice :-)

Might email Brea at C4fob@yahoo.com she helped design the system.

It's not feasible to install the 93-96 factory system. Find a good aftermarket system and nake sure it will work OK with your existing alarm system.

Thank you, can you recommend me type of aftermarket system and where to buy it? I looked for GM VKE1000, but I can't find any shop that sells it.

Sorry, I can't recommend anything specific. The VKE1000 looks like a good alternative if you can find one for sale. If it were me I would just search the internet until I found something that looked good. Or stop in at some stereo installation shop and talk to the people there.

GM stopped selling the VKE1000 MANY years ago. There might be one sitting on a shelf somewhere. A Google search might find one.

I have a VSS 200 (the predecessor to the VKE1000) on my car. The instructions are VERY good and they tell you exactly how to test to make sure you're connecting to the correct wire.

I found the remote for my '84 at Pep Boys:

Ready Remote. The instructions are very poor, so you need to be pretty competent with electronics, but I'm very happy with its performance!

Lock, unlock doors (interior lights come on), parking lights flash, hatch release, and control of the factory alarm. I've modified my antenna to allow me to leave it any position, so it's sometimes up when I want to install my car cover. I can lower my antenna with the remote, even if the car is locked. No additional power relays required.

When it comes time for the installation, there's lots of room for the unit behind your stereo, on top of the trans hump.

I installed a Bulldog KE1702 keyless entry. Got it from Ebay for $20.
Works great and flashes lights or horn.
