I have no idea even where to start It all started with my interior lights not going out so I orderd a new timer, well still having some problems which I believe are the door pins which I replaced as well but i had to modify them to work with the male connecting ends in the car, the new pin holes were to small and wouldnt accept the pins i used the old ones I pulled them apart and its like a 50/50 of old and new but hell it really nothing more then a contact thing so I figured it wouldnt be a big deal??? So i install it all and I still cant get them to go out they only go out when i put the key in the ignition ounce i pull the key out and shut the door they still stay on.
The latest and greatest I pulled the stereo this weekend because I sold it to Caboboy well the next thing I know My ac heater control doesnt want to work so I look at the info center and move the printed circut around because i notice its starting to open at the ends lights flickering and all. So know i get lights to the ac heater control but no blower motor functions or anything and my abs light is now stuck on . the next thing is my running lights keep blowing the fuse I put in a new one in and a min or two later the damn fuse is getting hot wth the wiring all looks good nothing has been butcherd up behind the dash Im, so friggin lost I dont know where to begin Im about to break out the 12 Lb sledge hammer and go to town on the car!!!!!! Im sure if i take it to a shop I might as well leave a kidney for a deposit :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad
The courtesy light timer is activated by a LH and RH door switch which are open circuit when the doors are closed. These switches are connected to the timer through a white wire each. One or both of these switches are not open circuit with the doors closed. Either the switch/s are defective or the wire going to the timer has its insulation rubbed through or pinched and shorted to ground. Unplug the timer and put an ohmeter to ground on the white wire and find where the short to ground is. Be careful because the left door has 3 jamb switches and the right door has 2.
ABS is on because a connection has been bumped to the control module or a fuse is blown or ABS is indeed defective. Check your inj 1 fuse, brake fuse, gages fuse, stop/haz fuse. Check that the connector on the ABS control module is fully seated. Your running light fuse is blowing because excessive current is flowing in that circuit. Check that the correct lamps are installed. Higher power lamps draw more current and require larger wires. If the lamps are correct, then you will have to trace power to each lamp and try to find damaged insulation causing a low grade short to ground.
Check for fully seated connectors on your climate control .
Lastly, don't try to fix all the problems at once. Work on one at a time, the one most important and keep your cool. Good luck.
