Default Relentless Code 32

Guys, I have tried everything that I know how to do to cure the code. I have 1) Removed intake and had it hot tanked to remove carbon deposits. 2) Replaced EGR, 3) Replaced EGR solenoid, 4) Replaced all hard vacuum lines with new GM pieces. Am I missing something here? I still get a code 32 after about 20 minutes on the road. Yes, I did reset the computer. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you replace the temp sensor? Mine was bad, and I got a code 32 after driving several miles on the interstate.

Bone stock(except for K&N filter) 91' 6 spd vert. No, I did'nt replace the temp sensor. Where is it located? It sounds just like the problem you described.

this sensor is located on the 1/2" exhaust tube that goes into the top of the intake manifold (L98), to the passenger side, and front, of the distributor.
dark green wire enters the harness.

if it doesn't close at the correct time, or is closed at the wrong time, the 32 code will be set.
this sensor is what detects wether hot gases are circulating or not.

I had same problem, bought all the parts EGR,Solinoid and temp sensor. Turned out to be temp sensor. Very hard to get to connector behind the block, hours worth. I ended up using a water pump plier to squeeze the wires together. Actually my sensor was loose all I had to do was tighten, but I changed it any way.

Basically just a temp switch. I believe it is closed when hot. i.e. When the engine is cold, put a meter across it to ground. It should be open. (It is more difficult to test the closed operation.)

If the wire is moving around inside the ceramic case, chances are good the "sensor" is bad.

My car is an '86, the sensor is in that location, it's the connector at the end of the wire from the sensor, that is located behind the Distributor thats the problem. I could only get my finger tips in there . I was about to remove the Distributor when I found an old Water Pump pliers ( sometimes called Channelocks) that would fit. I was then able to squeeze the two connectors together.
Perhaps this in only on my car.Maybe somone messed up the wiring harness.

Alot of guys just splice the new sensor into the old wire, instead of fighting with it behind the distributor, etc. Makes alot of sense to me.
That sensor is the first thing to replace, with a code 32.
Good luck,

Craig,
where is your EGR switch located?
seemed like a logical place.
from the photos one can see that other items were relocated as well.

Indeed the connector for the temp sw is behind the dist on the brake booster side.

When I had the dist out and base off I spliced in a length of grn wire and brought that connector up near the EGR sensor sw for easy access. Musta been a new member of the SAE that designed that connector location, or maybe he just hated Corvette owners.

I have a green(aqua) wire going to a connector that appears to be a oil pressure sensor just to the right and behing the distributor. That is all that I can see.

As I recall, on my 85 it was located in the middle of the intake base at the bottom of the EGR valve. Had to take the plenum off to get at it.

I got a code 32 after 15 minutes of driving immediately after removing my pre-cats and putting muffler eliminators on.

I have an eprom burner and the software to make the changes, so I just disabled the code 32 check.

No more code 32!

Getting the old one out is pretty simple if you can reach the connection. Reconnecting them back up was the hard part. ;) When I replaced my temp sensor I was able to hold the connector on the dstributor side of things with a spark plug puller. The wire passed through the notch in the puller and the outside edge of the connector rested on the tool. With the other hand (I could only fit one hand back there at a time) I could push with my one hand holding the sensor side of the connector against the spark plug puller tool to snap the connector back in place.

For my Code 32 I replaced the temp sensor on the EGR tube, the relay (inboard) behind the battery and the EGR valve on top of the intake. That FINALLY eradicated the code 32 problem. :smash:
