Been looking at several of the 'old posts' on this subject...
In the process of putting together the parts to make this happen.
New compressor, New Accumulator, new compressor --> accumulator lines.
Plan on flushing the rest of the components prior to charging.
Saw many comments along the lines of:
"I did swap out the low pressure cycling switch and from the standard .072 orifice tube to a .067 assembly."
Could someone please share part numbers/suppliers for the items above?
you might have been looking at one of my old threads/posts. the parts I used in my retrofit were FJC 3016 orifice tube (note: this a blue, ford, .067 orifice tube). the low pressure cycling switch is FJC 3225.
most of my parts and materials were from FJC, however, I did not buy direct from FJC. seems amazon and/or fleabay had the best pricing.
I checked the part numbers for earlier vs. later systems and GM used the same orifice tube for the R-12 and R-134a systems.
true, but the stock OE orifice tube is .072". from the reading I did, there was something about a slightly smaller (.067") orifice tube being more efficient for a 134a conversion at idle and lower engine speeds. i'm also thinking I read something on an old forum thread about the same thing. i'm no expert on the conversion or automotive AC, so can't say how correct the information is or was....

I bought the conversion kit at Walmart at least 15 years ago. Came with the valve, pressure gauge, a can of stop leak and 2 cans of R-34A. Had cold air ever since and never leaked
