1992 with 95,000.New brakes installed 3 years ago,I put around 1,000 mi per year.
So,yesterday I drove 15 miles stopped for fuel.Took off and went to stop at a light, brakes went way down close to floor. When I had left the house I had full petal.Pulled over checked fluid,it was full.Turned around and Hi tailed it home.
Today went to check the brakes. Before I started the car I touched the petal and it was a full petal.Started the car,hit the petal and was full petal.
Is this a warning the Master Cylinder is going out?Or has air got in the system some way?
Not necessarily usually when boosters go pedal is hard and hiss brake effort goes up making Please Stop moments, I feel his first hunch is closer with a Master that is Stroking Thru (leaking around it's inner seals) I would service the fluid real well and look for evidence of leaking by booster outside and start looking for a Quality master or a good re-builder.
One more side note when the pedal did it's drop did you hear the Anti lock pump or any anti lock lights I had a problem a while back with 1 of my wheel sensors not working right and it messed with the brakes big time

No,when it dropped it made no sound. No lights came on.Pumping did no good.
Went on another 20 mile drive today.Full petal when I left the house, full petal when I got back. Can't get it to repeat the failure.I know for sure the fluid needs changing.
