Default vacuum lines and lean code

hi everybody

I own a 1989 Z51 6 spd. The car is back firing. The code according to my mechanic is something about running lean. I have the hoses on the top of the canister running correctly. The CEL is on and it now wants to stall.
Does anyone know what the lower hoses connect to. I met someone with a pristine 87 and I did not want to start climbing all over his car. The lower hoses go into the front bumper but I do not know what they connect to.
If I leave the hose from the manifold to the canister off the car will idle. I would like to connect it properly. So if anyone knows where it goes please email me.
If anyone knows what i need to do to get rid of that code

Thank you all

The lower hose coming off can go to nothing. They are vents.

Thank you.

I connected all of the other hoses and the CEL went out. But, presently it does not idles correctly. I get backfires when I slow down and the car stalls. I dropped it and my timing light off at my mechanic.

Yes he does not have a timing light. One of his techs looked at me like I had two heads when I said timing light.
I am thinking that this can be a TPS adjustment. It will be interesting to see what happens to the gas mileage when this all gets straightened out.
Thank you for the drawings. They confirmed what I thought.

I knew I would hear that. Actually Marc and his main mechanic are more than familiar with the setting of timing and all that old school stuff. They have never let me down. But, just go to a service center today. All car are electronic. No timing light, dwell meter etc needed.

Thank you for the input.
