If I was gonna redo my 383 setup I would follow in grumpy's footsteps. I've had an SR before and it is a PITA to install. It does make for a nice idling torque monster of an engine but I'm not willing to pay $1300 for one and all that time installing one ever again. The MR seems like it would be a nice intake if you like LT1 style power but $1300 is still too much cash.
The Stealthram appears to have more performance potential and it's much cheaper. Of course you have to take into account the cost of the hood scoop or a custom fabbed plenum. That's something I wouldn't mind getting into though.
Re: Super Ram, Mini Ram, or Stealth Ram???? (85_togo)
Okay I am still not convinced either way. The last time I drag raced with the stock upper manifold and TB, I was running 14.2 with a stock TPI running at 15.8. I shifted at max (~6000) and my RPM only dropped to 4K. When AutoX'ing I am at 2000 to 6100 rpm, equally time at all RPMs
When driving around town I am at a ticketless 1500 to 2100 (Below any intake).
As an engineer, I am stuck with the TPI until some one comes out with an average runner (1/2 SUper RAm and 1/2 Mini ram with integral nitrous plate!!!!!!!)
