does it matter what brand of limited slip additive I use in the rear diff of my 1985 - am using non synth lucas 80w90 - I did not know if I had to use the gm brand or are there others that are acceptable?

Buy something from the store where you got the Lucas product (if you really need it). It will be fine.
Some lubes have the "additive" built-in. For example, I'm pretty sure the Valvoline 75w-140 "synthetic" I'm using is that way.
the lucas says no additives necessary - but it is not synthetic - ? maybe I will call lucas to double check - can it hurt to put 4oz extra of non slip additive?
On my '96 Impala SS I used a lube that said it had the limited slip additives, however it chattered when slow speed turning. I put in the 4 oz of the GM additive and no issues since.
In short, try it. If it chatters then put in the additive. If not then you are fine without it.
