Default 1991 Corvette cooling system question

Okay guys the motor is in after being rebuilt and runs. The cooling system doesn't seem like it is purged. I drilled a hole in the thermostat to help it purge but the system still gurgles ALOT when it is shut off. I have run the car on ramps and flat on the ground. I can see the this side up markings on the intake gaskets so I believe they are installed correctly. The heat works so I believe I am getting flow through the system. I just seems like I have a huge air bubble.

This side up is fine did you have the tin block offs to the rear?
if you pull the Thermostat can you see into the head.

91s I never remember having much of a problem of being air bound, get the car to close to operating temp.(Thermostat temp.) do a A to B jump get the cooling fan running raise up the RPM's to around 1500 top off and cap with idle raised.

If you are having running HOT issues well then that will need investigation too.
