Re: Water Pump Suggestions/Experience Please (DDMMCPO)
On my 87 I had the orginal rebuilt, then in June it needed replacing after many years service and I bought a Stewart for $104 to my door. The Stewart has 41% more flow and it made a big difference in cooling my engine. I have a 195 stat and in high 90's temps at a light and with my manual switch forcing the fan on, my coolant goes to 200 F and drops back to 195 when I get underway. The original waterpump (GM) , the temp would go to 215 - 220 and take much longer to get back down to 195. My vote goes to Stewart.
Re: Water Pump Suggestions/Experience Please (DDMMCPO)
If I didn't like my 92 Corvette, I'd use any ole cheapo part. But, at this point I prefer to use OEM where possible and Jeff has the best deal on OEM parts. I've bought a WP, Opti Spark, Plug Wires, Z07 front and rears bars and bushings from Jeff and saved a bundle. The other day I stripped out a couple of studs at a Sunday slalom, I got a couple of "temporary" studs from Pepp Booys, but I could almost bend them with my fingers; fortunately I was done with my runs. If $10 or $20 bucks is important, then go with the aftermarket; otherwise use GM quality and get them from Jeff.
