3.45 speedometer setup is incomplete only have gray and vss
i ask about the green gear because its availble oposed as purple ( available to me for about 30 days)
tire is 25.50
i supose i will bought this green gear until i found a purple one
Your original post says 3.54 so what is it really? I've never seen a 3.45 for a D36. Have you changed to a D44 with the 3.45?
I have a NOS 42T GREEN "in my hand". I hadn't considered selling it but I might. I do calibrations from time to time and to finish a job that needs it makes it quite valuable.
You can make the NEEDLE MOVE with any tooth count 40 to 43. Put it together with anything that you can find to drive it and when you find a correct one the driven is very easy to replace.
I already bought the green until I found the purple, then my speedo will read more or less speed with green gear ?
You need to install it and drive with a GPS for comparison. Check it at various speeds to determine the % of error but I'd think you'll be quite happy. The error is going to be a % and not a fixed value. The speedometer would be "fast" if not correct. I doubt you'll be looking for another.
No problem - the ratio of the 15/42 combination is 2.8 and the ratio of the 15/43 combination is 2.866666666667 I may have +/- a 6 in there!! You can see perhaps the reason I mentioned actually calculating the 42 as being a valid choice.
No it's not and you couldn't use the GM# 12507670. That gear is for a ZF 6-speed and incorrect.
What you need/should receive is an equivalent to GM# 8642620 and would be correct. Did you buy a new retainer for it's use or just plan on using your old? Now there's a reference to the 880019A in the summit reference SO if that's what you actually bought it will be incorrect. It would be for a larger TH400 etc with 32 spline output. Maybe a bad Summit reference or you maybe just picked a bad link this AM.
Measure the ID of the gear that you received. If the ID is other than 1.19 then it's incorrect. The Summit gear in the 'correct' gear link mentions the 'wrong color' but the image appears to be correct.
where can i buy this part ? 25513050 - Driven gear, 43-tooth (purple)
Eduardo,
I'm lookinh to put a set of 3.73 in my 1994. I currently have 3.07 Dana 36. I've read that if you have a 3.07 instead of the standard 2.56 differential, then a "thick" replacement ring gear is needed. Did you run into this? Also, are you doing this yourself or taking it to a shop? Gary

I realize the post was intended for the OP but you've either READ WRONG or MISUNDERSTOOD. If you've a 3.07 currently OE/GM then you would want a "THIN" gear package. The "THICK" is for any of the 2.xx ratio carriers when talking D36.
IF it were me - I'd keep the OE/GM 3.07 "as is" untouched and put it on the shelf. I'd get me a D36 of a lesser desired ratio and build it. WHY? i'd think there's every reason to believe that you'll be less than thrilled after the 3.73 build (unless there's a particular need), that makes the 3.07 readily available to go back.
If you're interested in a D36 empty housing I have a couple that for maybe a few $$ + the ship I'd part with. Then you buy a D36 carrier, bearings, pinion flange and a gear kit so that you've got a "new" or as close to new as possible for your 3.73 build.
If you're happy with the 3.73 build the 3.07 built is somewhat valuable and will resell easily! A used 3.07 gear kit will bring very little unless you find a "fool".
