Default 89 convert storage box

was looking for where jack handle and is stored? (jack is stored inside of spare tire) and stumbled on an old thread about removing speakers from speaker boxes to gain back storage bin. anyone ever done this? I know drivers side is full of ABS but passenger side is empty, you just need to take apart with screwdriver. what I mean by doing this is using coupe or later model storage lids. keep in mind its an 89 conv. not at all like the later converts come stock

Some mount on the underside of the hood in the engine compartment, take a peek there.

Jack handle should be held down by clips on rear seat mounts on driver side. Yes, there is a big empty cavern under the RR speaker with ABS under LR speaker.

I have an Optima battery under the R rear storage compartment (under the OEM speaker) in my convertible. A pain to change the battery, but when all is good, it is nice having it moved back there.

was hoping someone had tried using the coupe box lids on a convert, do they fit? i would have made a nice speaker box at back wall of compartment. would be nice to have some lockable storage when top is down. ive owned 2 early c4 converts so Ive never really seen what the boxes look like in a coupe. cant be much storage in drivers side, the abs is still there in a coupe correct?

I'm actually thinking of doing this and found this thread. Did you every buy/try the lids from a coupe to see if they fit where the previous convertible speaker mountings were (over the compartment holes)?
