Is your car auto or stick? Mine is a 6-speed and i have a Lunati 10120640LK cam in it. It sounds pretty much like that. It runs good on an old ADS Superchip (in the ecm when i got it). I don't know how it would act in an auto, but it has pretty good manners in my car the way i use it. You will need the roller cam version of it and you'll want a set of valve springs to go with it.

Thanks for the info I got the 700r4 but can pick up a six speed car for cheap that has an engine knock if that would be the better car
A good tuner can burn a chip that will run it fine in an auto car. This is just my opinion, too much cam in a stick car is not so bad but too much cam in an auto can make the car very temperamental.

Not sure the roller cam version will work in the L98 without a conversion kit. Definitely a bigger investment if so.

Wonder if your chip was a custom one off or a mass produced version? I see some nos ads tpi chips on eBay for like 75 dollars
Going from flat tappet to roller rocker will require additional mods such as replacing the pushrods. I am not the person to offer advice on that one but I wanted to point it out before you placed an order for a new cam. I might stick with a flat tappet if it were me but I would wait for someone with real knowledge to chime in first.

I looks like a mass produced version, its got a date code of 1987. Original owner likely stuck it in there when the car was new. Its nothing special and i wouldn't seek out & buy one. I would put the cam in and see how it runs (i found the ADS after i did the cam) then get a tune if you need it. Living with cammed car is a subjective thing, my idea of "it runs fine" may not line up with your taste. A tuner can do things no off the shelf chip can do.

Cool I will give it a go, that makes sense to try it out first. It looks like there's tons of nos old parts for tpi out there.
