Another issue with this vette, temp. control panel won't adjust to the higher temp. (red button) works only to lower temp (green button). I've heard you can take them apart and clean the contacts, I've heard you can break off tabs and other nightmares about cleaning these contacts here on the forum.

Any tips on doing this without catastrophe?
Thanks............
There's a couple of very good videos on YouTube. Do a quick search. I did mine a few months ago. Used a soft pencil eraser to clean the contacts. Works perfectly now.

Thanks for the info. But my 87 is totally different removal and construction-wise. But I plan on using your plan on cleaning the contacts...thanks again!

i simply pushed the face of mine forward - it must have freshened up or broken free some corrosion on the contacts.
i had the same issue on my 93 and doing that fixed it

Wow...what a great tip. I just went out and tried that and it did make the higher temp. (red button) adjust to a higher setting. But, I had to keep pushing on it to get it to go higher at each degree, at least I know how to get it to adjust when in need for now. Looks as if it's definitely the contacts and I'll still need to disassemble and clean them...but for now this works! Thanks man!!
