Not really sure. I'm asking for friend who was looking at a new HVAC programmer system. I found where some just replace the color hoses and it went back to work. Finding one was also hard. I told friend I would ask around and see.

It really depends on the symptoms on a '96 as to where to address the issue(s). If it is defaulting to blowing from the defrost vent and floor vent, regardless of whether the A/C or heat is being used, it is one issue (like my car is experiencing and I will fix this summer) or whether the A/C - heat blend door(s) are not working.

One controller is under the steering wheel dash area, the other is over by the passenger side or a vacuum hose out under the fuel rail covers.

The symptoms are important to figure out what to deal with

push on the faceplate forwards (into the dash) to 'freshen up' the contacts.

this fixed my 93's climate control issues

1996 Corvettes used rubber nipples on the controller that is located under the steering wheel dash area. These nipples collapse under vacuum. The fix is to put thin wall brass tubing in them to prevent the collapse.

This is a well known problem that is only on the 1996's as 96 is the only year this design flaw was used on.

That is why it is important to know the symptoms.
