Default 89 C4 Doesnt Have Overdrive Knotch

I just bought a 89 C4 with auto transmission. It only shifts 3 knotches( 1,2,D)then goes into neutral.I thought it should shift 4 knotches 1,2,D,OD,then neutral. The shift dial goes between D & OD,then neutral. There is a gap between the clear plastic dial lens and console plastic. So possibly transmission and console aren't original and have been changed???

This is what the Shiftier it self should look like, you may want to get under the car. Disconnect the Shiftier cable and count the notches to see if you have right amount down below that nothing is interfering with it's movement , and check the cable adjustment.
It would be very ODD not having the correct shiftier.

What do you think the possibilities are that the car has the wrong ,non-overdrive transmission?
Or do you think it could be out of adjustment?
It should shift into drive and overdrive right?

I'm going to check the number of bolts on the transmission pan soon to confirm what type of transmission it might be.

With NOT paying attention to the Shiftier just driving down the road how many times does the car shift, Does it have Torque Converter lock up Once top gear is found. I have a feeling that you have all your gears but if you pulled the shiftier from a dead stop all the way to first you would have 2 shifts, That is what the shiftier see as 1st is really 2nd. (adjustment problem)

The Chances you not having the same type of trans that came with car not likely. Since the Tail shaft has the mount for the "C" beam on it and I don't Know if you could just bolt it onto a Turbo 350 or 400

My bet is on shifter linkage misadjustment and you're not getting all the way down into 1st.
