My lt1 engine is in a notch mustang and my radiator has no fill water neck(ron davis). My water route is a totally sealed system. The only way I vent the system is thru the rear of the heads into an aftermarket overflow tank and i bleed the system thru the thermostat housing bleeder screw.
If the engine overheats will it vent thru the steam vent or will the radiator blow up?
This is a new setup.
..... Does the aftermarket overflow tank have a pressure cap ? If so , it will relieve the system there ... if no , something else will relieve the pressure , perhaps catastrophically .....
I put my own engine together. So all i need is an overflow tank with a pressure cap, that's easy, the one i have does not have one. I was thinking of buying a stock lt1 c4 tank and using that along with my overflow tank like a c4 lt1 stock water routing diagram I saw online.
Thanks for your help!!!
You can get a inline upper hose union with rad.cap, it's just a short pipe with a cap on it like a T fitting, goes in top hose high as possible. Then run a small hose from the new cap area to an overflow, alot of drag cars use this type of system. Check Jegs part# 555-53098

That is a very good idea A Peter C4 but I don't use clamps and rubber hoses, I use weld-in male threads an bungs on the radiator and braided lines from water pump(weld-in male threads an bungs also on water pump)to radiator.
I think I will just buy a weld-on filler neck and have it weld it to the radiator's tank then run my overflow tank to it and be done with it.
