Default Please help rpm problem

Hello my name is Devin I purchased an 86 corvette and have noticed it has a very bouncy rpm level. When I start it it stays around 10000 to 9000. Once it's warmed up it drops to 7000. But it does not stay there, it goes from 7k to 5k back up to 8k back down to 5k. Its a cycle and never stays constant. Sometimes I can feel the stop as in driving the car and pressing the accelerator. Throttle body has been cleaned and has new spark plugs. Could this be a IAC valve issue? Or a control model issue?? Please help!!

I'm pretty sure you have one too many zeros on all of those RPMs. An L98 turning 10000 RPM won't last ten seconds.

10000 rpm is moving right along. To the junkyard, that is.

I suspect an air leak but do you have a scanner? Not a code reader but a scanner?

no I do not have a scanner, any suggestions on where to get one for a good price? Is the air leak common?

Seeing as how you WILL need it sooner or later, why not sooner? Go to eBay and maybe an MT2500 or if you want to use a phone, ALDLDroid?
