Default 1985 C4 rotors

I have a 1985 c4 with what look like 1993 sawblade wheels. The brake calipers appear to be stock, but the rotors bolt to the hub and the wheel lugs thread into the rotor. Is this needed for the different wheel offset? Does anyone know who makes rotors like this?
Thanks,

Eric

Eric, your 1985 came with 16" wheels and those saw blades are 17". If you check with Mid-America Motorworks you may find the wheel adapters you need

From your description, it sounds like you have adapters on now to make the sawblabes fit right. Unbolt the rotor and see if that's how it works.

The stock C4 brake rotors simply slide over the wheel studs that are pressed into the hub. They are not bolted on separately. The wheels then slip onto the studs and the lug nuts attach the wheels to the studs. Lug nuts do not touch the stock rotors.

From your description, are you talking about wheel adapters for the later wheels? Even if you have adapters for the later wheels, the adapters would bolt on just like a wheel and the wheels would then be bolted on using lug nuts.

Any chance you can take a pic of your setup and post here??

I'll have the car on the lift this weekend and take some pictures.

I put the car on the lift and took the assembly apart. I thought the adapters were part of the rotor, but they are separate. I should be able to use standard rotors, I just need some of the nuts to hold the adapters on. I'm missing one on each wheel. Thanks for your response!

Hi

Looks like the adapters have studs missing, the adapters bolt onto your car with five nuts. You should have five studs on the adapters, looks like you will have to buy a new set of adapters.

OP shouldn't need to buy new adapters but only have maybe "ALL" studs replaced with appropriate quality product. Often the case with inexpensive adapters is the fact that the "spline spins" in the adapter. There's ways to secure the studs in the adapters if "spinning splines" are a problem.

OP certainly has a problem with the adapter he chose to snapshot. 2 new studs for sure and maybe just securing the 3 that are present. Seize the opportunity to do all four adapters at the same time. It's difficult to pass judgement from the snapshots but it appears that there's maybe a poor mix of nuts that hold the adapter to the hub on the car. I think best to check all of the suds in the factory hubs as well as all adapter and wheel hardware.
