I'm just finishing up my 24x 383 LT4 build and I'm at the point where I need to get mufflers on the car to continue tuning.
I have ARH's 1.75" long tubes with 3" X-pipe. The X-pipe ends a bit before the rear axle so I need to buy mufflers and have an exhaust shop fabricate some pipes to join them.
I've looked around at various corvette vendors and I can't find any C4 mufflers that have a 3" inlet. Do you have any recommendations? I want the mufflers to be as QUIET as possible. Should I be instead looking at universal mufflers and have the exhaust shop figure out the mounts?
Those Summit mufflers have 24 inch body and are 29 inches over all, they will not fit in the stock location.
Yeah, I thought they looked weird.
So, if quiet is your top (top) priority, you may want to consider using stock mufflers from '96. From conversations with my exhaust guy, he says that the '96 muffs flow reasonably well, give the most sound reduction and do not drone.
The down side is that there is a "step down" from your 3 inch to 2.5 on the stock muffs.
IMHO, you have committed to a high performance exhaust so you need to finish it. Embrace the loud and love the monster you created.
Quiet is not my top priority, it's my second consideration. First is a 3" inlet. I just want the quietest choice that I can get among the 3" options.
I'm too old for super loud exhaust systems. The Corsa sport on my S550 Mustang is about what I'd like in a perfect world, but considering this motors size, cam, and 12.5:1 compression it ain't happening.
Quiet is not my top priority, it's my second consideration. First is a 3" inlet. I just want the quietest choice that I can get among the 3" options.
.
It is best if you see your exhaust guy and figure a custom solution. I'm not sure you are going to find an off the shelf muffler solution for your custom exhaust?

I put a pair of Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers on my C4 some years ago. They are 3" inlet/outlet. Got them from Summit and they fit the C4's available space perfectly. They are slightly louder than the stock mufflers but certainly not obnoxiously loud. They DO drone in sixth gear under about 2000 rpm.
They are still on the car and working just fine.
If you can't find the proper part number, PM me and I'll look through my receipts.
If you are interested in the aerochamber, I have two of them that I took off of my car that have been sitting in my garage for the past 2 years. 3" in/out.
The mangaflow #16837 kit is 3" mufflers. I used only the section post reonsator on the system to adapt to my ARH headers and catted x-pipe. Downside would be the fact you need to buy the whole catback and only use a portion of it.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I sent out a few PMs. It looks like the best solution is to buy universal mufflers and have something custom fabricated. If I get real motivated, maybe ill fab it myself.
I have the muffler eliminators and the resonator. Pretty loud. I plan on the x pipe with stock mufflers next time. I bet it will sound just right for a sleeper.

A little late here (given that you've already ordered mufflers), but I'm sold on Dynomax turbo mufflers for quiet operation and good flow characteristics. An H pipe close to the header collectors does wonders for quieting the system also.
