Default 87 starting issue

recently acquired 87 vette. Problems with starting. Have already drained the tank and put in fresh gas, replaced fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator. Getting correct pressure. Problem is wont cold start without spraying fuel directly into intake, runs rough then evens out after engine warms up. Also starts ok after engine is warm. Cannot figure out problem. Any one else have this issue? Don't know where else to look or what else to try.

Well it sounds like no fuel during start up. Is the cold start injector firing? Are the main injectors firing? Get a "noid light" and see if the injectors are being pulsed.

Fuel, air, spark, check all 3.

A lot of people eliminate the cold start injector using a kit. Check if your engine still has the cold injector installed. It should be on the drivers side intake.

Coolant temp sensor may play a role it is at the front of the intake.

If they are the original injectors it might be time for new ones. E10 methanol gas raises hell with them.

How does that work? He is having trouble starting and if you eliminate the CSI, wouldn't that, assuming it isn't causing the problem in the first place, make it harder to start?

What I was trying to say is that the cold start injector may have already been removed. So he would need to reinstall it. This is usually a problem in cold climates. I honestly don't think it is the problem. It's possible, but not probable. Worth taking a look at.

My bad. I misunderstood you. You might be on to something. Previous Owners, aka PO, aka Moron who owned it previously might have done something and forgotten about it. Ask me how I know.
