The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
c4cruiser looks to have been in the C5 generation section saw the post and mentioned to the OP to POST IN THE C4 SECTION which I believe he did but in the meantime a moderator saw the thread and moved the OP's thread at that time. Moderator certainly wasn't going to see if the OP had already taken the advice.
There's people that have been around for years and still post TWICE every time - once in the TECH SECTION and again in the GENERAL section.

Well, EXCUSE ME for mis-clicking the C5 tech area instead of the C4.

1) Disconnect the battery ( with the ignition off) and remove the courtesy fuse. That should disable the system. Reconnect the battery and enjoy.
Problem is solved at this point, but the alarm won't work.
There are 2 switches , one on each door lock cylinder. When the key is turned to the unlock position, the switch grounds the green wire, which disarms the security system. Sometimes, a prior owner might remove/destroy the switches or wiring. Prior owners can be funny like that.
The alarm is normally activated when the door is opened, and the electric door lock button is pressed. At that point, the flashing "Security" light will stay lit up. The door is then locked , and the alarm is ready to trip when a door is opened without first using the key to disarm the system.
If you manually lock the door, or use a key to lock the door, the alarm will not be activated. The Security light will keep flashing until you close the door, when it will go out. Opening the door will NOT make the horns honk at this point.
If your door lock switches are messed up, and you use the electric locks to lock your doors, opening the doors or the rear hatch will trigger the horns and prevent the starter from working.
Hope this helps you out. Good luck to you.
