installed new pump -from NAPA, ran for maybe 15 minutes, and died in the driveway....no pressure....put 12 volts to terminal G on the aldl, no pressure. I can hear the click of the relay when I turn the key, but no pressure.....any ideas???? Just ran a test and put 6v to the old fuel pump....it runs....means the new pump is also good, so what the heck is stopping it from comming on????

Review what you did, including pulling fuel pump, if necessary. Check connections both electrical and fuel. Pulsator should have been replaced with short section of hose. Be sure something didn't come loose.
It is not uncommon for the wiring to fail between the relay and fuel pump. I had to replace the in tank wiring harness to fix an intermittent fuel pump problem in my 86.
I rigged up a tester wire alligator clip for mine when I swapped. I was able to test it; you only need a few seconds to confirm that the motor is working.
If it tests out, you will need to move "up stream" and pull a pressure reading from your fuel rail. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?
it's been awhile for the fuel filter....needs to be changed but kind of ruled it out troubleshooting this as there is zero pressure....of course now it's all coming together....I had a few instances this summer when the car died, coasted to a stop and it restarted right away....hadn't gotten to the bottom of that when it died and didn't come back....i'm pretty sure the new pump is ok, just like the old pump which worked when I bench tested it.....i'm leaning towards thinking this is a ground issue....just have to figure out where the pump is grounded on the car to check...hate to think there's something wrong with the wiring..... not my forte
well, it's not the fuel pump....did some checking, 12 volts at all fuses but the one marked FP. not getting power to the fuse.....any ideas would be helpful, not good at wiring problems
Do you have factory manuals or wiring diagram? Fuel pump fuse is powered up after relay and oil pressure switch. Check oil pressure switch and connector. Also check power and ground to relay.

sent 12 v down pin A in the relay plug...no results. haven't looked at the oil pressure switch yet....not sure where it is....looking for it in the fsm
I recommend pulling the pump back out and inspecting the wiring on the sending unit.
that's exactly going to be my next step....i've ran out of ideas so best to start at the beginning again...that or try to trace that damn wire from pin A of the relay to the fuse box.....thanks ....
If you put 12v to A of the relay, you should have got 12v to the pump fuse, and operated the pump. Since you didn't, you must be missing the ground. When I had this problem with my 84 I ran a new ground to the tank. (84 uses the same basic circuit as the 85), problem solved..

had two threads going on this so I'll address both...wvzr-1 was correct...it was the bulkhead connector...a wire underneath the plate....fixed it, runs like a champ....thanks to everybody for your input....wouldn't have this car without the help I get from the forum...... wish I had known what a bulkhead connector was....didn't get it at first.....quite an education.....Paul
