Hello Everyone, I live in Delaware and I'm looking form someone, or a shop, that can tune my 85 corvette. I'm having the engine rebuilt to a 383 stroker and my engine builder wants to get a tuner lined up before we start. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John
It’s a one off ECM. The only company I know burning chips for modified 85 cars is TPIS in Chaska, Minnesota. At least they were a few years ago. I hate to say it but you would be better served towing the car to them after the build. Or drive it there at your own risk hoping the original tune will be okay to drive it there.
I would like a dyno tune, but I'm not opposed to a mail order tune. I just wanted to see if can be done in this area, DE. What are other 85 owners doing when its time to upgrade there engines?
I have an 85 as well, and I was not aware of the ECM being special. I am also curious as to what my options would be for tuning in the future, since I'd like to do a 383 kit eventually. I'm in the pacific northwest, FYI.

You can actually learn to tune it yourself but the 85 ECM is limited and a real PIA. One improvement is to send ECM to Moates.net for a socket booster and 28 pin chip. Then you can run their Ostrich which makes tuning a lot easier. If you learn to do yourself then you can go to ANY dyno !!! No bad rejections !!! lol
Next step up (or before you edit the '85 ECM) is to convert to the newer 165 ECM used in the 1986 thru 1989 Vette. Many have done so and it is really not that difficult and solves many of the issues of the '85 ECM. The newer ECM is very much more powerful and can easily handle 600 RWHP ! greg
