Default Failing opti?

Hello! My ‘94 RPMs has been jumling all over while “at idle” - like up to almost 2k and back - and it actually stalled out while at a stop light tonight.

Curious to know if these are common symptoms of a failing opti or maybe something else? With 32k on the clock but 23 years old, I know my day is coming.

Thanks much!

Are you able to put a timing light on the car when at idle? When my opti went bad in my Camaro it would sputter under load. At idle the timing was jumping around all over the place. In my case the bearing went bad and the sensor had a hard time reading the reluctor wheel.

Don't even need a timing light. Look at the tach; if the needle is all over the place -and not in sync with the way that the engine is running...that is a pretty conclusive indicator that your opti is failing.
