Rough Idle...any ideas why?

Rough Idle...any ideas why?
When I start my car up cold, it idles up and down; sometimes to the point it sounds like it may stall. All of it seems to stop once it goes into closed loop mode. What do I need to check here.

check the IAC. I am not sure of its operation in open loop mode (aka cold), but I am sure it plays a part in your idle problem.
Pull it and clean it up. Even thought the computer isn't throwing a code, the plunger may not be working properly.
I had an idle problem at cold/warm operation, replaced the IAC, voila problem solved.

Any smoke?.......like maybe black?....... ya sometimes have to be outa the car to see it but if it's there you might be a little rich.......... also check the coolant sensor........ that's the choke on these......... ever service the cooling system....... that will affect coolant sensor operation..... let us know :seeya
