Default Cabin not heating up quickly

'93 coupe, just changed the antifreeze last summer even though I hadn't noticed any issues, it seemed dirty. I bought it in Jan 2017, so slowly going through and fixing replacing things.

Living in colder weather now, I noticed that the car gets to 190+ but my cabin heater isn't putting out hot air. Could I have a bubble, or some type of blockage? I've squeezed the hoses, they all seem to move coolant around. I'd like to drive it if the roads are clear, but when it's 15 out heat would be nice...

Oh, and I did replace the thermostat tonight as well, no issues and the old one looked fine. It still isn't putting out much heat.

Suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Move coolant is one thing, but can you feel hot hoses on both sides? If only one hose is hot and the other cool, you have a heater core blockage.

Good point, both are hot though, as far as I remember. I will run it again and check, to be sure.

Is this a c68 auto HVAC or c60 manual system?

Time to flush the heater core. I have to do mine every 2 years or sooner to keep it clean.

When the cars get older they tend to clog sooner. Pull both hoses and flush both ways. Don't use full hose pressure, just a gentle flow.

If the heater core hoses are hot, but the air is cold, the temp door isn't moving to allow heat.
That is correct. This is the next thing to check if you have good flow through.

It's an automatic car...

If the temp ever gets above freezing, I'll be able to work on it again!

[QUOTE=ihatebarkingdogs;1596536545]We're asking about the HVAC controls, not the transmission. C68 is "Automatic temp controls" The controller has a digital readout, and a blue and red arrow for temperature selection. The C60 is ?Manual Controls" and doesn't have the readout or electronic temperature selection.

I get it, it has the automatic HVAC system, select a temp, it goes to it, etc. Has the red and blue arrows. Actually I thought all the Ruby's had that as part of the package, but I could be wrong...

It is now time to call Bryan at BATEE.COM!

This man can and will help you with issues related to the C68. We all know and love this guy because he is "The Man" when it comes to the digital dashboards BUT he also fixes the C68's.

If you have experience soldering and a flexible back you can fix it yourself with parts from Bryan or you can send him the parts and he will fix them properly with "Modern" components.

Bryan helped me rejuvenate my Dashboard and my C68 and now they work like they were supposed to.

Good Luck with this repair and may the climate in your car be the way YOU want it, not the way Ohio makes it!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I will work on this when it warms a bit, maybe this weekend. If I can't get it to work right, Batee sounds like a good suggestion as I've noticed there are times I hit the buttons and it doesn't seem to change anything. Most of the time, the buttons work, but occasionally, it seems like they are just frozen, then I seem to hit the right combo and it works again...

Probably the start of a complete meltdown!

Watch this video and decide if you are comfortable disassembling and cleaning the control panel.

If you get the control working properly, the system has built-in diagnostics that can be used to test the blend door.
