What's "good life" from a DR? Oddly enough, I've never heard (or thought of) running DRs on the street...especially when people buy a second set of rims just to mount them for track day.

I have never ran anything but drag radials on the street on my high powered cars....

I tried to run regular 315 street tires on my 92 once and that was a very, very bad idea. The first time I went WOT it lit the tires up like I was on ice.... I stayed in it till 3rd gear, sideways @ 90MPH with no end to the wheel spin in sight before I lifted. The next day I had MT's back on the car.

I could get 10K miles out of a set of MT Drag radials just street driving them on the 92. That's a year out of a set of rear tires and actually being able to enjoy the power it had on occasion without the risk of crashing the car due to lack of traction.

Yes, 315s on the back here, behind the SR 398. Jump on it, they get squirrelly and will startle you. Could have something to do with 500hp/tq but its unnerving.

With 3.07 gears and 350 hp on a modern tire he probably shouldn't be roasting them that much in the first place. This doesn't sound like an aggressive build. Make sure your suspension bits are in good shape and aligned correctly and you're using a tire from this decade.

Tell that to my wife & wallet

no supercharger or stroker kit, but pretty aggressive in my view...350 RWHP is on the low end

I agree, I put M/T drag radials on my car and was surprised how well they worked in all situations including rain and they lasted 10,000 miles. To me the $350.00 for those tires was well worth the cost. They hook really well on the street.

The fresher the tires - the better !
Keep in mind that the drag radials and similiar compounds dont like slip angles so keep that in mind when running them on the street, good in a straight line but dont like going around corners so much.

I have used the Mickey Thompson SS tires (that have the same compound as the drag radial) with some street use and hillclimb, here is a comparison pic against the Nitto 01 that was a direct replacement and used for the same thing, you can see how hard cornering can carve them up a bit. (and for info the Nitto 01's are quicker time wise)

Fair enough but I suspect you won't be pushing 400 lb/ft mark at the wheels and the drag radials that folks are tossing around are focused on a set of circumstances beyond what it looks like you're going for with this car.
