It sounds like vacuum is "leaking" through your control solenoid. If you had full manifold vacuum, the egr would be OPEN...car would likely stall. Since the diaphragm moves up with such little effort, it's as if you have a partial vacuum pulling on the diaphragm, when at idle, there should be none.

Its funny.ive read so many posts saying not to delete the EGR because of negative reasons..But have not seen one post of anything bad actually happening.

Get a buddy. Tie a waterski rope to the hitch of your 4x4. Go have a blast!

Yep I've been skiing all my life. Used to ski at Mt Wachusett when I was a kid!

Now I work at Snowbird. What a change.

Blocked mine off when I replaced my engine in 2014. Have noticed no ill effects at all. Also removed air pump and cat. Went with the shorter belt as well to work without the air pump.

On my 1984 I ported the Cross-Fire intake, removed the EGR "dong" from the plenum, installed a commercial egr block off plate and went with later Corvette aluminum heads and a commercial computer chip upgrade (Hyper-chip I think). I ran it hard for years with absolutely no ill effects. My compression would have been higher than stock due to the smaller chambers on the aluminum heads vs stock iron. I did use premium gas. You should be just fine.
