Default Help with seat belts

I sold a pair of seat belts out of my 1991 . The guy I sold them to says that he can not pull out the belt from the wind up mechanism. I know there is a button on each retractor, but forgot it purpose. The belts were removed years ago. They only had 28k mile usage. Any ideas?

The snich button locks retractor to keep person in seat. There is also the standard inertia lock, that locks belt in panic braking or impact. Sometimes inertia lock will prevent retractor from releasing when belt is not mounted correctly. Did you check operation before you shipped them?

The seat belts work great when I removed them years ago. The guy has not mounted in his car yet. He is trying to pull the belts out of the retractor, but seems to be locked

When they are removed from the car, you have tonpullnthe shoulder side out some before the lap portion will pull out. They also need to be close to the installed position or the inertia lock will not retract.

One of mine did that.. Tell him to pull the cover off and look at it.

I lubricated a "flapper thing" (<- the actual, scientific. term for it. I am sure.) and it was fine after that.
