Default Replace injectors w/o removing plenum?

Has anyone replaced their fuel injectors without removing the plenum? it looks as though if I remove the fuel rail bolts, I should be able to lift the rail high enough to work the injectors out. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Putter,

Did mine earlier this year. I took off the plenum (only because I wanted to replace the EGR valve as well), but I left the runners on the intake. There is enough room to just lift the fuel rails and swap out the injectors. Pay attention to which direction the injector clips come out and put a little drop of oil on the o-rings and they'll go right back in.

Looks like it would be a pain to try and do...........but possible.

It's nothing to remove the Plenum though, It's just a few bolts.

Removing the plenum is the EASIER way to do the job.

The one thing I learned when working on these cars is that its worth taking stuff off to make the job easier. For the extra time its going to take you working under the plenum you can take it off and on 3 times.

As mentioned,it can be done with the Plenum removed...however,with the runners in the way,the 4 fuel rail bolts are a bit tricky to get off if they are stuck on there from years of use.Not much room to get a 10MM socket in there and a small 10MM wrench wont always give you enough leverage to crack the bolts free.

If they come off,put a small amout of antiseize on the rail bolts on install so they dont seize in there.

Also,Dont forget to disconnect the 2 fuel rail torx bolts in front of the intake that holds it down. They are right by the fuel line nuts in front.

This is just me,but I would remove the runners and replace all the gaskets if they are over 5 years...

Also, while the runners are off,get the plenum and runners steamed cleaned or hot tanked at a machine shop to remove all the black carbon inside.Plus, its alot easier to remove the rail and injectors and all that stuff with the plenum and runners off the motor.

Its not much more work unless you cant afford the down time and need the car repaired asap and just want to do it with just the plenum removed.
