Change oil light

Yep. It's clearly detailed right in the owner's manual in your glove box.
I'd tell you...but I can never remember it. I have to reference MY owner's manual every time. You push one button, then push another for 5 seconds, then a different one until the oil change light stops blinking....something like that. Owner's manual.

No, it's far more sophisticated than that. It gets inputs from injector pulse (total fuel burned), miles, oil temps, run times, engine loads, and other factors, and uses complex math to calculate the oil life on the assumption that you're using the recommended oil. My car typically tells me to change when I've gone about 7k miles, driving the way that I drive. Our CTS-V seems to go about 8-10k, the way that it's driven. I always write the "Last" date and miles on my oil filters, so when the indicator says to change, I can see how long it went before the change requirement.

Hmmm. I had Mobil 1 put in less than 3k ago. The car uses a bit, so it has been topped off with 2 additional quarts in that time. Quantity is full. I normally run M1 oil around 10k before changing.
i figured this was like my Toyota FJC. Light automatically comes on. At which time i just reset the system and change the oil every other light cycle.

Yeah, that's the idea. Reset the light & change the oil....light comes on when it's due again. It just uses complex calcs to let you know...not just miles.
