Default low coolant warning module

1989 Corvette, looking for where low coolant warning module is. It is somewhere under the passenger side dash, somewhere on top of footwell. Can anyone tell me how I can find it and best way to get into area for me to replace module?

If you are referring to the "low coolant" light in the DIC, the sensor is in the right (passenger) side of the radiator.

If you google low coolant warning module and select images you will see the part, 14078971. It is a module that allows a warning light in dash to show up when the coolant is low. without the module there will be no warning light for low coolant.

Your part# is incorrect and the '89 FSM says under right side of dash near 'fuse block'. Take a look at this part# on eBay for a visual. GM# 22533547. This would be correct for your '89. I don't see an image in any year FSM for location. previous threads mention it being 'taped' to the harness.

Here's a previous thread discussing the part# you mention.

I saw another thread that said part number 22533547 was for 86-88 and 14078971 for 89. Anyway, problem is I got stuck in Arkansas, car would not start, nothing would make a sound. Strange because I recently replaced alternator/battery. So towed it into a Chevy dealership. Mechanic said the module was defective and was causing it to blow a fuse that also connects to alternator, thus battery was not charging. He pulled the part (14078971) and charged the battery that fixed the problem (except I now do not have a low coolant warning light). Ordered a used part on Ebay to replace it. Mechanic said all I need to do is look under dash and plug in the new/used part when I get it. Got part and looked and cannot find where to plug in new/used module. I agree it is somewhere under fuse panel but don't know how to get into area. For example, is it easy to take off carpet and get into area above footwell/under dash?

I don't doubt you might have still found the 'earlier' number in an '89 install. Either number would do.

Anyone with an '89 should be able to tell you exactly what's required to remove right side under dash panel and then you need to put your hands on the connector which the guy likely left taped to the harness.

You have the module so it should be maybe an easy reach to put hands on 'edge board' type connector.

Reach out to user Tom400CFI - he might actually have all of or most of the dash panel removed from his '89 and can maybe even catch you a 'snapshot'.

here's a link to his profile. He's around much of the time

I know this is an old post but I was looking at a module that was originally taped to my harness and I wanted to find out which one it was. I removed the entire dash and was documenting the various components while they are easily visible. I didn't see an answer to the OP's post so I thought I'd add my 2 cents. Attached is a picture from my '87 of the 14078971 low coolant warning module that was taped to the harness but evidently the paper tape broke so it's just dangling. As mentioned by WVZR1 I don't see why it couldn't be accessed by removing the lower passenger side panel and looking up. In my attached pic it is just dangling behind the fuse panel in the picture with a little bit of the tape that tore off the harness.
