Default 1992 Will Not Start - Continued

I'm starting a new thread because I don't know how I could use original thread dated 7-24 to ask for further help. OK! disclaimer out of the way. I'm at the end of my rope and being rather short in height the rope isn't very long. Where I left off yesterday was my discussion with the mechanic which produced little hope of them resolving the no start issue. Yes I probably made a wrong decision on my repair shop selection, but that is over and I need to move on. My question due to my area lacking any repair shop that specializes in Corvettes is opinions about going ahead and having the car transported to the Chevrolet dealership where I'm assuming (wishful thinking) knowledgeable testing of various components would take place. Hopefully their past experience may narrow and speed up the diagnosis. What do you all think?

Thanks again for all your help.

Don't ship it anywhere until you talk to shop or dealership about the specific problem and they say they have enough experience to properly diagnose it. My .02 worth. Some of the diagnosis can be done simply by yourself though. Checking fuel and spark conditions etc. Are you sure the fuel gauge is working properly? Dump a couple gallons in the tank just to be 100% sure.

A lot of the new techs don't know much about the older cars and technology. If they can't connect a scanner to it and it tells them what to do their lost. There are basic things to check before you go off to deep in the tech world. Some tests do require some special tools and a knowledge of how things work and interface together. Corvette shops usually have these abilities and many GM dealerships won't even take in C4s any more. Pick up the phone and find who works on C4s on a daily basis.

Start with a fsm and pull codes. Jump ALDL A and G with a paperclip. Reset ecm by disconnecting the battery. Meanwhile when you turn key on do you hear fuel pump run for about 2 seconds. If not check fuse. Have you changed spark plugs or wires or disconnected them since problem started? If so,check to see they are on the opti correctly. Check coil and ICM and ground wire. With the ICM off check to see if is lubricated and not dried out. Heat will destroy one. That should get you started.

Thought I'd update regarding my problem. The no start issue wound up being the Ignition Control Module. Finally have car back. Just want to thank everyone for the help offered..
