Default Need experienced engine rebuilder's help...

I have a nick on my brand new cranckshaft (My Fault) on the front journal. It's very small... the width of a hair, but my finger nail can catch it. I sanded it down with 1000 Grit so that the peaks on either side are gone. It's about a hairs width and little less than a millimeter long. Is this going to cause a problem? I don't want this one little thing to make my engine blow.

Thanks! :)

IMHO if you have it smoothed down so none of the displaced metal is sticking up you will be fine, the key is lowering the raised material to the original surface. If still concerned ,put the crank in with oil, tourque the caps down rotate it and remove the cap, inspect the bearing ,if there is no markings your fine. The scratch you describe should not be a problem.
