Default Adding Power Seat Tracks

I'm installing power seat tracks in my '89 along with the switches in the console. I haven't taken the console apart yet, I haven't even gotten the switches or tracks yet, but they arrive in the mail tomorrow. I'm anticipating the problems I will have. From what I can tell, the switches come with a harness to the seat and power leads. Is there already an existing harness in the console that I can just plug into or am I going to have to run power from somewhere. The car has no power seats currently. If I need to run power, then where from and what amp fuse do I need? has anyone out there done this conversion? As far as mounting the switches, I guess I can cut the holes out- you can see where the holes should be. And the bracket that hols the switches in, I'l; make something because GM has discontinued this part. Any suggestions on the wiring?

I would be interested in how much the power and non power seat tracks weigh if you could find the time to do that and post it please :D

If there is a big difference i might take those non power tracks off you if we can agree on a price plus shipping :smash:

thats an interesting question.

I would suspect, with consideration to cost control, that GM used 1 harness for every car.

you may have to add a fuse thought...

could be interesting.

According to UPS, manual tracks shipped: 8.34lbs and power track+ wiring and switches: 17 lbs. This is for one side. So you would lose about 8.5 lbs with the downgrade. I don't have the manual tracks anymore as I swapped them for the power ones. :)

I'm needing a switch. Where did you get yours and @ what cost. I can't find anyone selling them for less than $100.

There is a power plug. I cut the holes for the switches out by drilling three 5/8" holes on each side of the console depression, and filed the front and rear holes square with a triangle file. The seats are much more comfortable now that there are more adjustments. :)
