After tuning, perfect. I had a 383 with 36pph injectors. With the 350, it did not see full potential till tuning from the idle and sudden WOT stabs.

Feels like Christmas. My superram plenum showed up. I have a lot of work to do before I put this thing on. Can’t wait though.

So I started taking things apart to get ready to install my super ram. I already had the Accel base on my car. Question. Does the bottom runner bolt holes usually leak water after unbolting the runners. Obviously this wasn’t giving a problem but a bit concerning.

I never saw water in my intake runners. Has your motor been sitting for a while, possibly outside?

Well test fitting the super ram today. Yeah I’m finding out the pain in the butt stuff about putting this thing in. The distributor was the first thing I noticed when I tried lining up the plenum. So I retimed that to sit in a weird place. And I see why they say leave the runner bolts loose. Luckily this thing was modified to have bolts go in from the top. The holes in the runners are threaded. I’ve read originally plenum bolts went in from the bottom?? Yikes.

Welcome to the nightmare... I mean club.

My distributor is also turned a couple positions and the plug wires relocated to make room.

Just gotta finish my tranny install. Gonna pull an all nighter since go back to work tomorrow night and get the super ram done. Already test fitted the runners and moved the distributor. Just need to install it.

Well the super ram got the best of me last night. I honestly thought there was a little more clearance for valve covers. I was wrong. Can’t get them past the runners and roller rockers. Did a little grinding and still no go. I said screw it ordered some proform steel perimeter bolt covers I know those will fit. I had this same problem with the as&m runners but was able to have valve covers on to put runners on. Not with these super ram runners. Not only did I have to take the valve covers off. I had to remove whatever rocker arm that sit in front of the bottom runners bolts to tighten them. What a pain. But I’ll get it.

I had to grind my aftermarket centerbolt valve covers to get them on with super ram.

Yeah I just don’t feel like messing around with them. I have AFR heads so I have both bolt patterns. I mean yeah center bolts are much easier to get to the bolts vs perimeter style but I’ve dealt with the valve cover issue one too many times with aftermarket runners and what not.

Car is up and running with the super ram. I haven’t gone all out on it yet but installing it was a pain the you know what. It wasn’t the super ram design that really made it hard. It was the fact that it was modified for studs for the whole thing. I got hardware for it and I didn’t like how the fasteners would rub hard on the corners of the plenum. I said screw it I helicoiled all the holes in the plenum except the the ones in the center left those for studs. Holes were too big to make 1/4 inch threads had to go 5/16. I bought ARP bolts for the small wrench size. But the flange would rub the runners. Had to clearance the runners. And I screwed up the first time I tried to install the plenum to runners when the hardware wasn’t working for me. Ended up ruining the plenum to runner gaskets. Ordered new ones but on backorder. Ended up making my own worked out good just used RTV of course.

lol. I’m sure I’ll find some stupid reason to. Never know I might take the plunge and build a 383. I’d rather take that super ram off any day vs doing the tranny. Heck I kinda did both at the same time. Double nightmare.

I hear that double nightmare......Was all set to install Superam for my winter project last year, End of the season tranny lost 3rd and 4th gears, so I removed had that rebuilt, then I reinstalled. After the Tranny then I did the Superram install.

A little late for advice but maybe this will help someone next time. When I had a SuperRam, I rtv'd the manifold to runner gaskets and runner to plenum gaskets only on one side. On the other, I used a thin layer of lithium grease. This would seal the runners and make disassembly and reassembly easy. My runners and manifold were extrude honed and I would use the same handcut gaskets season after season with at least two disassemblies per season. I did the same with the throttlebody gasket. I would use the same gasket set for years at a time. Never had a vacuum leak.

Forget the Super Ram, I'm jealous of how clean the rest of your engine bay is!
